MARTYR OF GOWANUS
Brooklyn, 2001. Gavin Macklin, a 30 year old housepainter, gets into a feud with a teenage boy (Angel) from the neighborhood over a stolen fishing rod and suffers a beating from Angel's cousin. After meeting Angel's sister (Mercedes), Gavin decides to befriend the boy and teach him how to fish. When Mercedes rejects Gavin's advances, he retreats into isolation and alcohol. Then, on the morning of 9/11, Gavin watches as NYC is attacked by terrorists. Gavin is angry and wants to respond with violence. Ultimately he must choose between an act of love or hate.
