Are you a charcuterie board
maven?

Show off your charcuterie board assembly skills during our Her Night Out: Charcuterie & Wine.

To keep things fair, the contest has both amateur and professional categories. (Professional here means experienced with catering or preparing charcuterie for large events.)

Entrants must start with a (self-provided) serving “board” of any shape or material and load it with cheese, cured meat, and an array of compliments.

All food materials will be provided by the Grand River Center and included in the cost of contestant participation. (Participants will receive a list of provided food options before the competition day.) Absolutely no carry-in of food. The only food used on the boards must be what is provided by Grand River Center.

Your contestant station will be judged on your board presentation, use of materials, overall theme, and decoration.
Categories for both amateur and professional teams will include:

FAQs

As a contestant, what do I need to bring?

  • Your charcuterie board or other acceptable display items. (Example: large alphabet letters to place the food in, specialty-shaped cutting boards, are a few ideas.)
  • Guidelines: display items are plastic wrap lined and are clean. You may bring other items to fit your station theme. (Example: Your theme is animals, you may bring stuffed animals to dress up your station.) Costumes or thematic dress are encouraged but not required. Just have fun with it and be yourself.
  • Cooking gloves will be provided and must be worn while handling food.

What happens to my charcuterie board items after the competition?
You get to take it with you! The judges will sample the items on your board to determine your pairing choices, but the rest will be yours to take home.

Do I get to select the items for my board?
Yes. However, you will be limited to the food items provided by the Grand River Center. The food options will be sent to all contestants ahead of the event.
